Type 2 Diabetes Success

S.D. scientists find success in fight against Type 2 diabetes

This was a headline in the local San Diego paper on Tuesday and it still amazes me after all these years and number of proven successful all natural ways to stop/limit/reverse Type 2 diabetes there are no headlines about it.  Unfortunately, the healthcare industry and more specifically the pharmaceutical companies are about using drugs (where the $ is) to treat symptoms and disease not about treating the underlying cause and truly helping people get better and off medication.  Don’t get me wrong medication has a place but it has become the go-to for many to cover up lifestyle choices.

Obesity and diabetes rates are steadily climbing-the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, which has been measuring Key Health Indicators since 2008, found that in 2016 the number of obese Americans has risen 2.8 percentage points since the inception of the poll.  That is an increase of more than 1,000,000 people per year newly diagnosed with obesity and there are currently over 37,000,000 American with diabetes.  No wonder drug companies are actively seeking ways to extend the life (not cure the symptoms) of these people, that is a nice size market to make a great business.   They would rather you chose a pill over the foundations of health that many have known for decades and even centuries.  We have a growing epidemic of type 2 diabetes and Alzheimers which some have called type 3 diabetes.

If you believe as I do that Health is Victory and the answers don’t lie at the feet of drug companies or with the traditional medical establishment but rather we can take steps to be healers of ourselves you need to continue reading.  I think through education and action you can learn how to cultivate the power to heal and find even greater success in the fight against obesity and Type 2 diabetes than the drug companies.

We need to first ask ourselves how did we arrive in this dire situation?  If you remember the not to distant past before diabetes became the epidemic it is now how did we eat and live?  We ate whole real foods not processed foods that come out of a box or wrapper.  More and more of the Standard American Diet (SAD) is comprised of refined grains, sugars, sweetened beverages and industrial polysaturated oils (canola, vegetable, corn) combined with less activity and movement.  Many of the foods in the SAD our ancestors would not recognize as food.  Instead, we should be consuming as our great-grandparents or grandparents (depending if you were born before 1980) did- vegetables, meat, fish fowl eggs and healthy fats (avocado, olives, butter, extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil).  They didn’t have the option of unlimited restaurants that serve cheap low quality food or buying meals in boxes that have ingredient lists greater than 5 items.  These nutritionally void items are the cause of our modern day health crisis but they don’t have to be you have a choice.  Exercise can also be an important component but proper nutrition is 300-400 X more important than exercise in the cure.
